ADEPT Propulsion Technologies Announces Strategic Commercial Agreement with RapidSky LTD at AirVenture 2024

ADEPT Propulsion Technologies (APT), and Airmotive Technology (AT), a pioneering aviation engine manufacturer, is thrilled to announce a strategic commercial agreement with RapidSky Limited (RapidSky LTD) from the United Kingdom. This landmark agreement, unveiled at AirVenture 2024 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, is set to enhance the distribution and support of advanced aviation engines across the European Union (EU), United Kingdom (UK), and selected global markets.

Introduction to the Agreement

RapidSky LTD specialises in distributing aviation products and specific helicopters in the EU, UK, and global markets. APT/AT develops and manufactures aviation engines under the brand ‘ADEPT Airmotive’ for the general aviation market, serving customers in Africa, North America, South America, Australasia, the CIS region, and Europe.

Key Points of the Agreement

This agreement focuses on the distribution and support of APT/AT’s engine designs and intellectual property within the EU and UK regions, and includes specific product requirements for a helicopter derivative of the engine technology. RapidSky LTD will handle the installation and distribution of these engines globally, with a view towards obtaining EASA Type Certification for future installations in Type Certified fixed-wing and helicopter applications.

Phases of Collaboration

The collaboration is structured into three phases:

Phase 1: Initial supply of engines manufactured by APT/AT for installation and demonstration by RapidSky LTD.

Phase 2: Supply of production batches of engines manufactured in South Africa for distribution by RapidSky LTD in the EU, UK, and selected helicopter applications globally.

Phase 3: Final assembly of EASA Type Certified engines by RapidSky LTD in an EASA-compliant facility in Italy, using components supplied by APT/AT.

The ADEPT engines are highly fuel-efficient and operate on unleaded fuels such as Autogas/Mogas, which are significantly more affordable, and socially acceptable. These engines are designed for easy maintenance, utilising widely available, modern service components, resulting in much lower costs compared to traditional aviation service parts. Flying with ADEPT engines is not only cost-effective but also ensures that it doesn’t come at the expense of our planet.

The helicopter derivative of the engine will integrate into these phases, ensuring a seamless development and distribution process.

Product Development and Certification

As part of the Type Certification program, APT/AT will develop EASA-approved ADEPT piston engines for installation as drop-in replacements for traditional piston engines. This includes developing viable helicopter engines adapted for experimental and certified applications, with assembly taking place in South Africa and Italy.

Market Expansion and Online Presence

RapidSky LTD will establish an Online Engine Purchasing portal for the EU and UK markets, with potential expansion into other markets through collaboration with APT. This initiative aims to simplify the purchasing process and enhance market penetration.
